Emergency Room Mistakes In Not Doing Anything Is Medical Malpractice

Medical Malpractice Mistakes

Let’s be honest, no one likes to go to the emergency room.  Either you are seriously injured and in need of immediate medical care, or you are injured and need treatment that your primary care provider cannot provide, patients headed to the emergency room can feel awkward, embarrassed, and even unsure why they are going.  However, when a patient does go, he or she expects to be seen by a competent physician and healthcare provider who will protect his or her rights.

This is not always the case.  And one of the worst instances of this is where the patient is left in the emergency for too long and the injury gets worse or becomes irreversible.  Some of the most serious instances of injury too can be caused in this manner.  That includes misdiagnosed strokes, heart attacks, and pulmonary embolisms.

But other types of injuries that are not immediately treated can also become permanent if the patient sits in the emergency room for too long.  This includes deep lacerations or wounds, amputations, crushing injuries, and pressure-related injured (like rope constriction around limb).  The longer these injuries go untreated, the harder it will be to repair.

Thus, when patients go to emergency rooms they never want to go.  And when they go, they need to be treated quickly an appropriately.  Injuries need to be triaged, or ordered in severity, to ensure that patients get the appropriate treatment as quick as needed.
