Medical Malpractice Mistakes

Otolaryngologists, or an ear, norse, throat doctor known as an ENT, specializes in treating conditions affecting, involving, or damaging the ear, nose, throat, or immediately surrounding structures.  Procedures involving the tonsils and nose reconstructions are the best known work of these types of doctors, and most people will generally meet with one at one point or another in their life.  They are important specialists.

They also have very important jobs.  When they make reckless or negligence mistakes, they can result cause serious harm to a patient.  There are many ways in which an otolaryngologist can commit medical malpractice, and all of them are very bad.  This includes the following:

  • Failing to diagnose cancer;
  • Surgical errors;
  • Failing to perform or take a biopsy;
  • Causing an infection from a surgery or procedure;
  • Failing to monitor a patient;
  • Failing to interpret an MRI, CT scan, or other imaging procedure;
  • Failing to refer to a specialist;
  • Botched nose reconstructions;
  • Improperly performed tonsillectomies;
  • Failed ENT surgeries;
  • Causing damage to the ear;
  • Damaging a person’s taste, hearing, or smell; and
  • Many other causes.

ENT’s may be very specialized and focused on a limited area, but they can really cause injuries to the whole body which result in the death of a patient.  This is particularly true with cancer cases when the ENT fails to properly treat a patient, diagnose a patient, or refer a patient who may have cancer to an oncologists for further tests.
