Victims Misdiagnosed Have Rights

Misdiagnosis
Cancer refers to a group of diseases that occur from uncontrolled abnormal cell growth of organs or tissues.  It is a major cause of death throughout the world.  Cancer can result from genetic mutations that cause uncontrollable division damaged to cells, leading to the development of abnormalities or tumors that are malignant.  This can affect the function of organs.  If cancer is not diagnosed or treated, the cancer cells will continue to multiply and spread to other areas of the body, which further affects the functions of the body. When a physician begins to diagnose for cancer, a thorough family and personal medical history is compiled, along with risk factors and symptoms for cancer.  A thorough physical examination should also be included in the diagnostic process.  Imaging procedures, such as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI Scans), Computerized Tomography (CT Scans), and Positron Emissions Tomography (PET Scans) can also be included.

Unfortunately, in the early stages of cancer development there are no symptoms.  Depending on the advancement of the cancer, the symptoms can vary.  They can also mirror the symptoms of other medical conditions which leads to cancer misdiagnosis or delays in diagnosis.  Other forms of medical malpractice that leads to cancer misdiagnosis include the failure to perform diagnostic tests, laboratory errors, radiological errors, doctor mistake, or doctor errors.

Horrible and devastating experiences can result from cancer misdiagnosis.  Such experiences can include unnecessary, painful, expensive, and devastating treatments.  If you have suffered as a result of cancer misdiagnosis, you may be able to pursue legal action.

Cancer misdiagnosis can also be deadly.  The misdiagnosis of cancer leading to wrongful death is increasing.  A treatable condition can be transformed into a terminal prognosis.  In order for the treatment of cancer to be successful, early detection is very important.  The probability of successful treatment is reduced with each day without treatment.

The medical malpractice laws are there to protect patients and hold medical providers accountable for their negligence.  If you or a loved one has suffered from cancer misdiagnosis, contact an experienced Kingston, New York medical malpractice attorney as soon as possible to evaluate your case.
