New York Medical Malpractice and Christmas Holiday Hospital Errors—REAL PROBLEMS!

Christmas holiday hospital errors are very serious.  On Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, who gets off in your office?  If you are lucky enough that the whole office is off, how about other holidays or days around holidays?  Like the day after Thanksgiving?  Or the day before or after Fourth of July?  It is very likely that the people with the most seniority get these days off.  Or at least they get the first pick of holidays and days off.  The same is true in a hospital, which is always open during the holidays.  The most healthcare providers that have been there the longest typically get the first pick of holidays, which usually translates into the healthcare providers with the most experience get to take off.  This breeds potential New York medical malpractice.

For instance, if the emergency department doctors with the most experience all take off, this means that the less experienced emergency department doctors will remain on call.  In such a fast-paced position like the emergency room, this is dangerous for patients who may be at the mercy of physicians that are still learning their trade.  This can result in simple medical errors which could be serious and permanent injuries to patients.

Another common place for hospital errors with New York medical malpractice is OB-GYN.  Labor and delivery is a very important and crucial department in a hospital which must be competently staffed.  But when it is not properly staffed, serious errors in handling fetal distress and labor emergencies could result in very serious and deadly mistakes.

It is important that hospital workers who make errors should be liable for their errors whether they are experienced or not experienced, or whether it is a holiday or is not a holiday.  Christmas holiday hospital errors are a real problem.  But what do you think?  I would love to hear from you!  Leave a comment or I also welcome your phone call on my toll-free cell at 1-866-889-6882 or you can drop me an e-mail at jfisher@fishermalpracticelaw.com.  You are always welcome to request my FREE book, The Seven Deadly Mistakes of Malpractice Victims, at the home page of my website at www.protectingpatientrights.com.
