EVERY lawyer and law firm offers a “free legal consultation”. If a lawyer asked you for $1,000 for the first hour consultation, would you hire this guy? Fat chance!

Since every lawyers offer a “free legal consultation”, does that lawyer offer anything unique? No! You can get the free consultation from any lawyer–just look at the yellow page ads for “free consultations”. Such advertising does nothing to distinguish one lawyer from the other and it shouldn’t mean anything to you when searching for the right lawyer.

If you want to find the best lawyer for your case, begin your search by speaking to friends and family members who have used lawyers in your community. The best way to conduct your search is word of mouth from persons you trust. The next step is checking lawyer evaluation services, such as Martindale-Hubbell or Avvo.com, to find out how other lawyers evaluate their peers. This is absolutely gold for you. Now, you’re getting somewhere.
