$900K For Wrongful Death Of Trucker In Collision With CSX Train

Wrongful Death

42 year old truck driver was killed in a collision with a CSX train at a grade crossing at the Northeast Solite Plant in Saugerties.  The grade crossing was ranked as the most dangerous in New York State for 15 years by the federal Department of Transportation.  Despite years of collisions between trains and trucks at the Solite crossing, the Town of Saugerties, County of Ulster, Northeast Solite and CSX did nothing to change the design of the crossing or even have a crossing guard stationed at the crossing.  Years of inaction caused severe injuries to truckers and finally culminated in the death of 42 year old trucker from Hudson, who was survived by his wife and daughter.

After years of doing nothing, the Town, County and CSX finally placed crossing guards at the crossing at the intersection of Old Kings Highway in Saugerties to stop traffic from traveling on the crossing when a CSX train approaches.  Problem solved! Finally.
