$425K Recovered For 74 Year Old Victim Of A Botched Vascular Surgery In Poughkeepsie, New York

Surgery

On July 18, 2012, John recovered $425,000 on the first day of trial for his client, a 74-year old victim of a botched vascular surgery in Poughkeepsie.

To improve the blood flow to his left leg, he underwent a bypass operation to place a graft from an artery near his armpit down to an artery in his left groin. The surgeon is supposed to position the synthetic graft just below the skin and above the ribcage. However, during the operation, the assistant surgeon tunneled the graft through his rib cage and pierced his diaphragm and large intestine.

To make matters worse, the misplaced graft was still penetrating his inner organs five days later when the surgeon discharged him from the hospital (damn, I love these cases!). Two weeks later, he was taken by ambulance to the hospital where surgery was performed to “re-do” the operation.

If you ever have a case like this, PLEASE call me. My job doesn’t get much easier than this (and I love watching the doctors fight to blame each other).
