Serious Injuries From Sport Injuries Can Be Worsened By Medical Malpractice

Medical Malpractice Mistakes

With fall sports season in full spring, there are a lot of students, athletes, and professionals playing.  Given some of the more contact sports like football and soccer, there are more injuries occurring.  These injuries need to be addressed quickly as some of these injuries can be very devastating and result in serious, permanent damage.  Failure to quickly address this could result in medical malpractice.

One of the most common types of medical malpractice is in the care and treatment of a fracture.  The injury could be misdiagnosed and the fracture not treated in time.  There could also be mistakes in performing a surgery such as putting in the hardware.  Fractures on growing children near their growth plates could also result in serious injury and permanent injury, damaging the growth plate.

Casting a fracture too tight could also result in serious injury, including to vessels or nerves.  This can be when the doctor, nurse, or a technician fails to properly put the cast on.  It can cause serious damage for the entire 4 to 6 weeks that the cast is on, but if the cast is on for 4-6 months, the damage could be catastrophic.

Additionally, delaying in treating severe injuries can result in horrific injuries due to compression syndrome.  This is when the swelling in a limb is so severe that it can actually block blood flow, damage vessels, and destroy nerves.  These are very serious medical emergencies that need to get revered immediately before the injuries become debilitating.
