SHOCKING NEWS: Comatose Nursing Home Patient Gives Birth

There is some very shocking news that a 29-year-old comatose patient of a nursing home has given birth in Arizona. According to news sources, the woman has been in a vegetative state for more than a decade. She gave birth to a baby boy in at the end of December. This obviously raises very grave concerns of nursing home malpractice and nursing home sexual abuse. As a New York medical malpractice lawyer and as a New York nursing home abuse lawyer, this case is absolutely scary, frightening, and a worst nightmare.

The provider is Hacienda HealthCare in Phoenix who is a healthcare provider for “medically fragile and chronically ill” children and young adults. The CEO stepped down amid this controversy, and the facility has pledged full police cooperation. The identify of the victim is protected, but the San Carlos Apache Tribe has confirmed that she is a member and that the tribe is “deeply shocked and horrified” by the alleged abuse. This is horrific nursing home abuse.

The Tribe’s Chairman said that one of the victim’s caretakers was not to be trusted and took advantage of her. This is a horrible case and it has to be extremely difficult to explain to her family what happened.

Sexual abuse is a common type of nursing home malpractice, including New York nursing home malpractice. It usually occurs to individuals who cannot defend themselves such as the elderly or those in a vegetative state, as well as individuals who are unable to communicate effectively. This is a disgusting type of case and when people pay thousands of dollars for care and treatment, this type of incident should simply never, ever, ever EVER occur. Sexual abuse is never okay, and the fact that a completely innocent person has been taken advantage of like this is a travesty.
