Is Cerebral Palsy Due to New York Medical Malpractice?
Birth InjuryUnderstanding Cerebral Palsy: Could it be Due to New York Medical Malpractice?
Cerebral palsy is a very debilitating condition and YES, it can be caused by New York medical malpractice. This is a series of disorders caused by damage to the brain. The disorders relate to the brain and its ability to process functions and movements. Thus, cerebral palsy is a movement disorder. It is caused by damage to the developing brain which results in lesions to the brain. There are several different types of cerebral palsy, all varying in degree of disability. The different type is due to the location of damage to the brain.
What Causes Cerebral Palsy?
Yes, genetics and natural events could cause cerebral palsy. That is absolutely true. However, more often than not, cerebral palsy is caused by preventable actions. These actions are usually New York medical malpractice. The most common way that medical errors and negligence cause cerebral palsy is due to hypoxic injuries to the brain. These are injuries to the developing brain that result in a lack of oxygen. This lack of oxygen is what causes damage and lesions to the brain.
For instance, some common ways that New York medical malpractice results in cerebral palsy is when the umbilical cord is not properly protected. If it becomes compressed or damaged in any way, that means that the baby is receiving a compromised source of oxygen. This compromised source of oxygen is what leads to brain lesions.
Another example of how cerebral palsy is caused is due to excessive contractions, or due to dangerous accelerations and de-acceleration combinations. This is the contractions of the mother on the baby to face it through the birth canal. However, when the contractions occur they compress the cord and put pressure on the baby. Think of it like an anaconda. If the contractions squeeze the baby too much, too hard, and for too long, it will result in hypoxic conditions which cause the baby to sustain a loss of oxygen and brain damage.
Finally, the use of certain medications or drugs may also result in brain damage to a baby. Many of these drugs are dangerous as they are and can create a caustic environment. These can result in damage to the brain due to the chemicals.
